McGrath Real Estate, Coats for Everyone brief | collaboration with Kathryn Wilson

A recent TAFE brief saw me collaborating with fellow illustrator and designer Kathyrn Wilson to create the brand identity for a new project 'Coats for Everyone'  that McGrath Real Estate are to action this winter.

In short and to put it simply we decided to have a little fun and use our illustrations skills and draw a series of bears. I actually really enjoyed taking photos of my friends and family and turning them into bears.

side note | We were then chosen in the top 15 out of 60 submissions to present our idea to the client and from there we made it into the clients top 10.

If you would like to be turned into a bear, have bear portraits of your friends and family or would like to gift your friends and family with bear portraits, send me some email love : candiceheart@live.com

Thirteen days ago on the 17th May 2014, two of my good friends Michelle and Nick became husband and wife.

Let's go back earlier this year to the month of February when I sat down with Michelle and Nick to talk through their ideas
for how they wanted their invitations to be.
Prior to this Michelle had invited me to a Pinterest board she had started, to share inspiration and ideas.
As they had originally met while both traveling Europe this was a main focal. Working with blues, yellows and golds I started
with a hand drawn illustration of a house in France. Usually when I do these sorts of illustrations I tend to colour them in Illustrator.
For this as they loved my watercolour art they wanted it to be one of the features for the invite.
The background is a rich ultramarine blue which I created with my Caran D'ache neocolor II water-soluble wax pastel. With Michelle and Nick's names I decided to collaborate and outsource the typography to my very talented husband Joel Cameron
Layout wise I didn't want to clutter the invitation with too much type, so decided to included the addresses for both venues along with a hand drawn map on a separate card which would easily fit into a small handbag or pocket.

The final design consists of hand drawn illustrations, watercolour art and custom hand drawn typography.

Maeve and Jake

What a great start to 2014.

I was asked to design an engagement invitation for Maeve and Jake.
Before I start any job I like to create a visual brainstorm.
Whether it be with the client or personally I find that most of my ideas naturally form when I am able to put pencil / pen to paper.
Keeping in mind that I wanted to have a typography focus I always like to add illustrations where I can to my work.
With this job I started with their names and it unfolded from there.

The final design consists of hand drawn typography and hand drawn illustration elements.
